History
Yeagertown was founded in 1817 by John Yeager, a German immigrant who had settled in the area in 1790. The town was originally known as Yeager's Town, but the name was eventually shortened to Yeagertown. The town was incorporated in 1864.
Yeagertown was an important stop on the Pennsylvania Canal, which ran through the town from 1834 to 1885. The canal was used to transport goods and passengers between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
Geography
Yeagertown is located at 40°37'17" North, 77°25'45" West (40.6214, -77.4292). It is situated along the Juniata River, approximately five miles east of Lewistown.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.6 square miles, all of it land.

Yeagertown is a small, rural community with a limited economy. The town is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a few restaurants.
The town is also home to several manufacturing companies, including a plastics manufacturer, a metal fabricator, and a machine shop.

As of the 2010 census, there were 1,092 people, 441 households, and 294 families residing in the borough. The population density was 1,817.3 people per square mile (700.3/km2). There were 471 housing units at an average density of 781.7 per square mile (301.7/km2). The racial makeup of the borough was 97.7% White, 0.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.7% of the population.
There were 441 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.2% were married couples living together, 11.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.3% were non-families. 30.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.06.
In the borough, the population was spread out, with 24.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 27.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.2 males.
The median income for a household in the borough was $32,500, and the median income for a family was $38,750. Males had a median income of $30,000 versus $21,250 for females. The per capita income for the borough was $15,945. About 8.2% of families and 10.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 14.3% of those under age 18 and 8.2% of those age 65 or over.
