Hartleton borough Summary

Hartleton Borough is a small borough located in Union County, Pennsylvania. It is situated in the Susquehanna Valley, approximately 20 miles south of Williamsport and 30 miles north of Harrisburg. The borough is bordered by Hartley Township to the north, East Buffalo Township to the east, Buffalo Township to the south, and West Buffalo Township to the west. As of the 2010 census, the population of Hartleton Borough was 545.

Geography

Hartleton Borough is located at 40°45'45" North, 76°59'45" West (40.7625, -76.9958). It has a total area of 0.3 square miles, all of which is land. The borough is situated in the Susquehanna Valley, approximately 20 miles south of Williamsport and 30 miles north of Harrisburg. The borough is bordered by Hartley Township to the north, East Buffalo Township to the east, Buffalo Township to the south, and West Buffalo Township to the west.

History

Hartleton Borough was founded in 1876 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Hartley. The settlers chose the name “Hartleton” in honor of the town of Hartley. The borough was officially incorporated in 1877.
