Ellport Borough is a small borough located in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. It is situated in the northwest corner of the county, just south of the city of New Castle. The borough is bordered by Shenango Township to the north, North Beaver Township to the east, and Slippery Rock Township to the south and west. As of the 2010 census, the population of Ellport was 1,093.

History

The area that is now Ellport Borough was first settled in the early 1800s by a group of German immigrants. The area was originally known as “Ellport”, after the Ell family who owned much of the land in the area. The Ell family had a large farm and a sawmill, which were the main sources of income for the area.
In 1876, the Ellport post office was established, and the area was officially incorporated as a borough in 1887. The borough was named after the Ell family, and the name was changed to Ellport Borough in 1895.

Ellport Borough is located at 40°51'N 80°20'W (40.851, -80.333). It has a total area of 0.7 square miles, all of which is land. The borough is located in the northwest corner of Lawrence County, and is bordered by Shenango Township to the north, North Beaver Township to the east, and Slippery Rock Township to the south and west.
