Brockway Borough is a small borough located in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania. It is situated in the northwest corner of the county, and is bordered by the boroughs of Brookville and Reynoldsville, as well as the townships of Pine Creek and Rose. The population of Brockway Borough was 1,845 at the 2010 census.
History
The area that is now Brockway Borough was first settled in the early 1800s by a group of settlers from New England. The town was originally known as "Brockwayville," and was named after the Brockway family, who were among the first settlers. The town was officially incorporated in 1876.
In the late 1800s, Brockway was a thriving industrial center, with several factories and mills located in the area. The most prominent of these was the Brockway Glass Company, which was founded in 1891 and produced glassware for many years. The company closed in the late 1970s, but the building still stands today.
In the early 1900s, Brockway was a popular tourist destination, with several hotels and resorts located in the area. The town was also home to a number of amusement parks, including the Brockway Amusement Park, which operated from the 1920s until the 1950s.

Brockway Borough is a small, rural community with a limited economy. The main industries in the area are agriculture and tourism. The town is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a few restaurants.
Demographics
As of the 2010 census, there were 1,845 people, 745 households, and 486 families residing in the borough. The population density was 2,039.2 people per square mile (788.3/km2). There were 809 housing units at an average density of 890.2 per square mile (344.3/km2). The racial makeup of the borough was 97.7% White, 0.3% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.7% of the population.
There were 745 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.2% were married couples living together, 11.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.2% were non-families. 30.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 3.03.
In the borough, the population was spread out, with 24.2% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 27.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females, there were 92.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.2 males.
The median income for a household in the borough was $30,938, and the median income for a family was $37,500. Males had a median income of $30,000 versus $21,250 for females. The per capita income for the borough was $15,945. About 11.2% of families and 14.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 19.2% of those under age 18 and 8.2% of those age 65 or over.
