Waldron Summary

Waldron is a small village located in Hillsdale County, Michigan. It is situated in the south-central part of the state, about 30 miles south of Jackson and 40 miles west of Ann Arbor. The village has a population of approximately 1,000 people and covers an area of 0.7 square miles.

History

Waldron was founded in 1837 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was named after a local Native American chief, Chief Waldron. The first settlers were primarily farmers and the village grew slowly over the years. In 1845, the first post office was established and the village was officially incorporated in 1867.
In the late 19th century, Waldron began to experience a period of growth and development. The village was connected to the railroad in 1881 and the first school was built in 1883. The village also had a number of businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, and a hotel.
In the early 20th century, Waldron continued to grow and prosper. The village was connected to the electric grid in 1912 and the first telephone service was established in 1915. The village also had a number of churches, including the Methodist Episcopal Church, the Presbyterian Church, and the Catholic Church.

Geography

Waldron is located in the south-central part of Michigan, about 30 miles south of Jackson and 40 miles west of Ann Arbor. The village is situated in a rural area and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The village is located on the banks of the St. Joseph River and is bordered by the towns of Reading and Pittsford to the north, and the towns of Somerset and Osseo to the south.
