Unionville Summary

Introduction

Unionville is a small village located in St. Clair County, Michigan. It is situated on the banks of the St. Clair River, approximately 25 miles northeast of Detroit. The village has a population of approximately 1,000 people and is part of the Port Huron Metropolitan Statistical Area. Unionville is a rural community with a rich history and a strong sense of community.

History

Unionville was founded in 1837 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was originally known as Unionville Station, as it was a stop on the Grand Trunk Railroad. The village was officially incorporated in 1867.
In the late 19th century, Unionville was a thriving agricultural community. The village was home to several large farms, as well as a number of small businesses. The village also had a number of churches, including the Unionville Methodist Episcopal Church, which was founded in 1867.
In the early 20th century, Unionville began to experience a decline in population. This was due to the decline of the railroad industry and the rise of the automobile industry. By the mid-20th century, Unionville had become a small, rural village.
