Springport Summary

Springport is a small village located in Jackson County, Michigan. It is situated on the banks of the Grand River, approximately 10 miles east of the city of Jackson. The village has a population of 1,092 people, according to the 2010 census.

History

The area that is now Springport was first settled in 1836 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was originally known as “Springport Station”, and was a stop on the Michigan Central Railroad. The village was officially incorporated in 1867.
In the late 19th century, Springport was a thriving agricultural community. The village was home to several grain mills, a sawmill, a cider mill, and a cheese factory. The village also had a hotel, a bank, and several stores.

Springport is located in the central part of Jackson County, Michigan. It is situated on the banks of the Grand River, approximately 10 miles east of the city of Jackson. The village has a total area of 1.2 square miles, all of which is land.
