Le Roy Summary

Le Roy, Michigan is a small village located in Genesee County, Michigan. It is situated on the banks of the Flint River, about 25 miles north of Flint. The village has a population of about 1,000 people and is part of the Flint Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Le Roy was founded in 1837 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was named after Le Roy, New York, the hometown of the settlers. The village was incorporated in 1867 and has remained a small, rural community ever since.
The village was an important stop on the Grand Trunk Railroad, which ran through the village from 1871 to 1971. The railroad was a major source of employment for the village and helped to bring in new businesses and people.
