Daggett Summary

Daggett is a small unincorporated community located in Menominee County, Michigan. It is situated on the Menominee River, near the Wisconsin border. The population of Daggett was estimated to be around 200 people in 2020.

History

Daggett was first settled in 1871 by a group of Swedish immigrants. The town was named after the first settler, John Daggett, who had come to the area from Sweden. The town was originally a logging and farming community, and the first sawmill was built in 1872. The town grew slowly, and by the early 1900s, it had a population of around 200 people.
In the early 1900s, the town was home to a number of businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, a hotel, and a post office. The town also had a school, which was built in 1891.
