Bay Port Summary

Bay Port is a small village located in Huron County, Michigan. It is situated on the shores of Saginaw Bay, which is part of Lake Huron. The village has a population of approximately 1,000 people and is a popular tourist destination due to its proximity to the lake.

History

Bay Port was first settled in 1854 by a group of German immigrants. The village was originally known as “Port of Bay” and was a fishing and trading center. In 1871, the village was renamed Bay Port. The village was incorporated in 1887 and has remained a small, rural community ever since.

Geography

Bay Port is located in the Thumb region of Michigan, which is known for its flat terrain and sandy soil. The village is situated on the shores of Saginaw Bay, which is part of Lake Huron. The village is surrounded by farmland and is located approximately 25 miles from the city of Saginaw.
