Akron Summary

Akron is a small village located in the state of Michigan, in the United States. It is situated in the northwest corner of Washtenaw County, and is part of the Ann Arbor Metropolitan Statistical Area. The village has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is located about 25 miles west of Ann Arbor.

History

The area that is now Akron was first settled in 1825 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was originally known as “New York Corners”, and was later renamed “Akron” after the city of Akron, Ohio. The village was officially incorporated in 1837.
In the late 19th century, Akron was a thriving agricultural community. The village was home to several grain mills, a sawmill, a cider mill, and a cheese factory. The village also had a post office, a general store, and a blacksmith shop.

Geography

Akron is located in the northwest corner of Washtenaw County, in the state of Michigan. The village is situated on the Huron River, and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The village is located about 25 miles west of Ann Arbor, and is about 40 miles from Detroit.
The climate in Akron is typical of the Midwest, with cold winters and hot summers. The average temperature in the winter is around 25 degrees Fahrenheit, and the average temperature in the summer is around 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
