Dendron Summary

Dendron is a small town located in the southeastern corner of Virginia, in the United States. It is situated in Isle of Wight County, and is part of the Hampton Roads metropolitan area. The town has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is known for its rural charm and small-town atmosphere.

History

The area that is now Dendron was first settled in the early 1700s by English colonists. The town was originally known as “Dendron’s Crossroads”, and was named after the nearby Dendron Creek. The town was officially incorporated in 1887, and was named after the creek.
In the late 1800s, Dendron was a thriving agricultural community, with many farms and plantations in the area. The town was also home to several sawmills and gristmills, which provided lumber and grain to the local population.
In the early 1900s, Dendron began to experience a decline in population as many of the local farms and plantations were abandoned. The town was also affected by the Great Depression, and many of the businesses in the area closed.
In the late 20th century, Dendron began to experience a resurgence in population as people moved to the area to take advantage of the rural atmosphere and small-town charm. The town has since become a popular destination for retirees and those looking for a quiet place to live.
