History
Richland Hills was founded in the late 1800s by a group of settlers from Richland, Mississippi. The settlers named the area after their hometown and began to build homes and businesses. The city was officially incorporated in 1953.

Richland Hills is located at 32°48'25" North, 97°14'45" West (32.806944, -97.245833). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.2 square miles (8.3 km2), all of it land.

Richland Hills is home to a variety of businesses, including retail stores, restaurants, and professional services. The city is also home to several industrial and manufacturing companies. The city's largest employer is the Richland Hills Independent School District, which employs over 1,000 people.
Demographics
As of the 2010 census, there were 7,737 people, 2,945 households, and 2,072 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,417.3 people per square mile (933.3/km2). There were 3,093 housing units at an average density of 962.2 per square mile (371.2/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 79.2% White, 8.2% African American, 0.5% Native American, 2.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 6.7% from other races, and 2.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 15.2% of the population.
There were 2,945 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.2% were married couples living together, 12.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.7% were non-families. 24.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.62 and the average family size was 3.12.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 24.7% from 45 to 64, and 12.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 93.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.7 males.
