History
Rhome was founded in 1881 by the Rhome family, who had moved to the area from Tennessee. The town was named after the family, and the post office was established in 1882.
The town grew slowly, and by the early 1900s had a population of around 200. The town was incorporated in 1912, and by the 1920s had a population of around 500.
The town continued to grow slowly, and by the 1950s had a population of around 800. The population has remained relatively stable since then, and in 2010 was 1,092.

The racial makeup of the town was 92.2% White, 0.2% African American, 0.7% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 4.7% from other races, and 2.0% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 8.2% of the population.
There were 393 households, out of which 37.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.2% were married couples living together, 11.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.2% were non-families. 22.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.78 and the average family size was 3.27.
In the town, the population was spread out, with 29.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 10.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males.
