Milford Summary

Milford, Texas is a small town located in Ellis County, Texas, United States. It is situated about 25 miles south of Dallas and is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1854 and has a population of approximately 1,500 people.

History

The town of Milford was founded in 1854 by a group of settlers from Kentucky and Tennessee. The town was named after Milford, Kentucky, the hometown of one of the settlers. The town was originally a farming community, but it soon became a trading center for the surrounding area. The town was incorporated in 1876 and the first post office was established in 1877.
In the late 19th century, Milford was a thriving community with a population of over 1,000 people. The town had several stores, a hotel, a bank, a school, and a cotton gin. The town also had a railroad station, which connected it to the rest of the state.
In the early 20th century, Milford experienced a period of decline. The population decreased and many of the businesses closed. The town was hit hard by the Great Depression and many of the residents moved away.

Geography

Milford is located in Ellis County, Texas, about 25 miles south of Dallas. The town is situated on the banks of the Trinity River and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The town has a total area of 1.2 square miles, all of which is land.
The climate in Milford is hot and humid in the summer and mild in the winter. The average temperature in the summer is around 90 degrees Fahrenheit and the average temperature in the winter is around 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
