Eldorado Summary

Eldorado is a small town located in Schleicher County, Texas. It is situated in the western part of the state, about 90 miles south of San Angelo and about 70 miles north of Del Rio. The town was founded in 1881 and was named after the mythical city of El Dorado. The population of Eldorado was 1,951 at the 2010 census.

Eldorado's economy is largely based on agriculture and ranching. The town is home to several large ranches, including the historic 6666 Ranch, which is one of the largest ranches in the United States. The town is also home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a few restaurants.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,845 people, 690 households, and 486 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,541.2 people per square mile (595.2/km2).
