History
Bremond was founded in 1871 by a group of Polish immigrants led by Joseph Bremond. The town was named after him, and he served as its first postmaster. The town was originally located on the Houston and Texas Central Railway, and the railroad was a major factor in the town's growth.
In 1881, the town was incorporated and a school was built. The town also had a cotton gin, a bank, and a hotel. The town continued to grow, and by the early 1900s, it had a population of over 1,000.
In the 1920s, the town was hit hard by the Great Depression, and many of its businesses closed. The population declined to just over 500 by the 1940s.
In the 1950s, the town began to experience a resurgence. The population increased to over 1,000, and the town was able to attract new businesses. The town also built a new school and a new library.
