Bedias Summary

History

The town of Bedias, Texas is located in Grimes County, Texas, and is part of the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1837 by a group of settlers from Alabama, led by John Bedias. The town was named after the Bedias Creek, which was named after the Bedias Indians, a tribe of Native Americans who lived in the area.
The town of Bedias was an important stop on the stagecoach route between Houston and Austin. The town was also a stop on the Houston and Texas Central Railway, which was built in 1871. The railway brought new settlers to the area, and the town grew rapidly.
In the late 19th century, Bedias was a thriving agricultural center, with cotton, corn, and other crops being grown in the area. The town also had a number of businesses, including a bank, a hotel, a general store, and a blacksmith shop.
