Gower Summary

Gower, Missouri is a small city located in Platte County, Missouri. It is situated on the Missouri River, approximately 25 miles north of Kansas City. The city has a population of approximately 1,400 people and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area.

History

Gower was founded in 1858 by a group of settlers from Kentucky. The city was named after the Gower family, who were among the first settlers. The city was incorporated in 1872 and was a thriving agricultural community. The city was home to a variety of businesses, including a flour mill, a sawmill, a blacksmith shop, and a general store.
In the late 19th century, Gower was a popular destination for travelers, as it was located on the Missouri River. The city was also home to a number of churches, including the First Baptist Church, which was founded in 1871.
