Buckner is a city located in Jackson County, Missouri, United States. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The population was 2,743 at the 2010 census.

History

Buckner was founded in 1871 by William Buckner, a former Confederate soldier. The town was named after him. The first post office was established in 1872. The town was incorporated in 1887.

Buckner is located at 39°14'25" North, 94°20'45" West (39.240278, -94.345833). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all land.
