Manson Summary

Manson is a city located in Calhoun County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,845 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Calhoun County.

History

Manson was founded in 1871 by the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railroad. The city was named after Manson, Wisconsin, the hometown of the railroad's president. The first post office in Manson was established in 1872.
Manson was incorporated as a city in 1881. The city was a major center for the agricultural industry in the area, and was home to several grain elevators and a creamery.
