Wrightsville is a city located in Johnson County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,845 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Johnson County.
History
Wrightsville was founded in 1811 by James Wright, a Revolutionary War veteran. The city was named after him. The city was incorporated in 1812 and was the first incorporated city in Johnson County.
Wrightsville was the site of a major Civil War battle in 1864. The Battle of Wrightsville was fought between Union and Confederate forces. The Union forces were victorious and the city was occupied by Union troops for the remainder of the war.

The economy of Wrightsville is largely based on agriculture and manufacturing. The city is home to several large manufacturing plants, including a paper mill, a textile mill, and a furniture factory.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,845 people, 717 households, and 486 families residing in the city. The population density was 454.2 people per square mile (175.5/km2). There were 790 housing units at an average density of 194.2 per square mile (74.9/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 68.45% White, 29.90% African American, 0.16% Native American, 0.05% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.60% from other races, and 0.79% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.08% of the population.
There were 717 households, out of which 32.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.2% were married couples living together, 19.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.2% were non-families. 28.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 3.12.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 28.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 27.2% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 86.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 79.2 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $25,938, and the median income for a family was $31,250. Males had a median income of $27,500 versus $20,000 for females. The per capita income for the city was $13,945.
