Island Park is a village located in Nassau County, New York, United States. The village is located within the Town of Hempstead and is part of the Greater Long Island area. As of the 2010 census, the village had a population of 4,655.
Geography
Island Park is located at 40°38'25" North, 73°41'17" West (40.640278, -73.688056). It is bordered by Long Beach to the east, Oceanside to the south, and Baldwin to the west. The village is located on a barrier island, which is separated from the mainland by Reynolds Channel.

History
The area that is now Island Park was originally inhabited by the Meroke Indians. The first European settlers arrived in the area in the late 1600s. The area was originally known as "Hog Island" due to the abundance of wild hogs in the area.
In the late 1800s, the area was developed as a resort community. The area was renamed "Island Park" in 1891. The village was incorporated in 1931.

The racial makeup of the village was 87.2% White, 4.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 2.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 4.3% from other races, and 1.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 11.3% of the population.
There were 1,845 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.2% were married couples living together, 11.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.2% were non-families. 28.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.51 and the average family size was 3.12.
The median age in the village was 41.2 years. 21.2% of residents were under the age of 18; 7.2% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 25.3% were from 25 to 44; 29.2% were from 45 to 64; and 17.1% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the village was 48.2% male and 51.8% female.
