Calcium is a small town located in Jefferson County, New York. It is situated on the eastern shore of Lake Ontario, approximately 20 miles north of Watertown. The town was established in 1802 and has a population of approximately 1,500 people.

The town is bordered by the towns of Lyme, Pamelia, and Henderson. The town is located in the Tug Hill Plateau region of New York, which is characterized by rolling hills and valleys. The town is home to several small lakes, including Lake Calcium, which is the largest lake in the town.
The town has a total area of 24.2 square miles, of which 23.9 square miles is land and 0.3 square miles is water. The town is home to several small streams, including the Black River, which flows through the town.

History

Calcium was first settled in 1802 by a group of settlers from Connecticut. The town was named after the element calcium, which was discovered in the area in 1808. The town was officially incorporated in 1817.
In the early 19th century, the town was a major center for the production of lime, which was used in the construction of buildings and roads. The town was also home to several sawmills and gristmills.
