New Hampton Summary

Hampton, Missouri is a small town located in the northeast corner of the state, in the Ozark Mountains. It is situated in the foothills of the Ozarks, and is surrounded by rolling hills and lush forests. The town is located in the heart of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, and is home to a variety of outdoor activities, including fishing, camping, hiking, and canoeing.

History

Hampton, Missouri was founded in 1845 by a group of settlers from Kentucky. The town was named after the Hampton family, who were among the first settlers. The town was originally a small farming community, and the main crops grown were corn, wheat, and oats. The town grew slowly, and by the early 1900s, it had a population of around 500 people.
In the early 1900s, the town began to experience a period of growth. The railroad came to town in 1906, and the town began to expand. The population grew to over 1,000 by the 1920s, and the town was incorporated in 1925.
In the 1950s, the town began to experience a decline in population. The railroad closed in the 1950s, and the town's economy began to suffer. The population dropped to around 500 by the 1970s, and the town was in danger of becoming a ghost town.
In the 1980s, the town began to experience a resurgence. The town was designated as a National Historic District in 1982, and the town began to attract tourists. The population began to grow again, and by the 2000 census, the population had grown to over 1,000.
