Hornersville Summary

Hornersville is a small town located in Dunklin County, Missouri, United States. The town is situated on the banks of the St. Francis River, and is home to a population of approximately 500 people. The town was founded in 1883 by William Horner, and was named after him.

Geography

Hornersville is located in the southeastern corner of Dunklin County, Missouri, at the intersection of Missouri State Highway 25 and Missouri State Highway 164. The town is situated on the banks of the St. Francis River, and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The town is located approximately 10 miles south of Kennett, Missouri, and is approximately 30 miles north of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
The town has a total area of 0.7 square miles, all of which is land. The town has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. The average temperature in the summer is around 80 degrees Fahrenheit, and the average temperature in the winter is around 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

Demographics

As of the 2010 census, there were 498 people, 197 households, and 135 families residing in the town. The population density was 709.7 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the town was 97.2% White, 0.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.2% of the population.
There were 197 households, out of which 28.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.3% were married couples living together, 11.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.5% were non-families. 29.4% of all households were made up of individuals, and 15.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.13.
The median age in the town was 39.2 years. 24.7% of residents were under the age of 18; 8.2% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 24.2% were from 25 to 44; 25.2% were from 45 to 64; and 17.7% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the town was 48.2% male and 51.8% female.
