History
Hallsville was founded in 1819 by William Hall, a Revolutionary War veteran. Hall was the first settler in the area and the town was named after him. The town was incorporated in 1867.

Hallsville is located at 38°59'45" North, 92°17'45" West (38.995833, -92.295833). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all land.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2,717 people, 1,072 households, and 745 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,269.2 people per square mile (876.7/km2).
