Frankford Summary

Frankford, Missouri is a small town located in Pike County, Missouri. It is situated on the banks of the Mississippi River, approximately 40 miles north of St. Louis. The town was founded in 1819 and has a population of approximately 1,500 people.

History

Frankford was founded in 1819 by a group of settlers from Kentucky. The town was named after Francis Frank, a prominent local landowner. The town was originally a trading post and a stop on the stagecoach route between St. Louis and Hannibal. In 1821, the first post office was established in Frankford.
In the mid-1800s, Frankford was a thriving river port. The town was home to several steamboat lines, which transported goods and passengers up and down the Mississippi River. The town also had a number of businesses, including a sawmill, a gristmill, a blacksmith shop, and a general store.
In the late 1800s, the railroad came to Frankford. This allowed the town to become a major shipping center for the surrounding area. The railroad also brought new industry to the town, including a brickyard and a furniture factory.

Frankford is located in the northern part of Pike County, Missouri. The town is situated on the banks of the Mississippi River, approximately 40 miles north of St. Louis.
