Fairdealing is a small unincorporated community located in Ripley County, Missouri. It is situated in the southeastern corner of the state, near the Arkansas border. The town is located on the banks of the Black River, and is home to a population of approximately 500 people.
History
Fairdealing was founded in 1883 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Doniphan. The town was named after the fair dealing of the settlers, who had agreed to share the land and resources of the area. The town was incorporated in 1887, and the first post office was established in 1888.
The town grew slowly over the years, and by the early 1900s, it had become a thriving agricultural community. The town was home to several businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, a sawmill, and a grist mill.
In the 1920s, the town began to decline as the railroad bypassed it. The population decreased, and many of the businesses closed. The town was eventually abandoned in the 1940s, and the post office closed in 1950.
