Essex Summary

Essex is a small town located in Stoddard County, Missouri. It is situated on the banks of the Castor River, approximately 10 miles south of the county seat of Bloomfield. The town was founded in 1883 and was named after Essex, England. As of the 2010 census, the population of Essex was 545.

Essex is located at 36°45'45"N 89°59'45"W (36.7625, -89.9958). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2), all of it land.
Essex is located in the southeastern corner of Stoddard County, approximately 10 miles south of the county seat of Bloomfield. The town is situated on the banks of the Castor River, which flows through the town and is a tributary of the St. Francis River. The town is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland.

Essex is a small, rural town with a limited economy. The town is home to a few small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a few restaurants. The town also has a post office and a bank.
