History

Arbyrd was founded in 1883 by a group of settlers from Arkansas. The town was named after the nearby St. Francis River, which was known as the Arbyrd River at the time. The town quickly grew, and by the early 1900s it had become a thriving agricultural center. The town was also home to several small businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, and a cotton gin.
In the early 1900s, the town was also home to a number of churches, including the First Baptist Church, the Methodist Church, and the Church of Christ. The town also had a school, which was built in 1910 and served the community until it closed in the 1950s.
