History
Villa Hills was founded in the 1950s as a planned community. The city was incorporated in 1959 and was named after the Villa Hills subdivision. The city was originally developed as a residential community, but has since grown to include commercial and industrial businesses.
Geography
Villa Hills is located at 39°2'25" North, 84°32'25" West (39.040278, -84.540278). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.2 square miles (5.7 km2), all land.
Economy
Villa Hills is home to a variety of businesses, including manufacturing, retail, and service industries. The city is also home to several large employers, including the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, which is located just outside the city limits.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 6,923 people, 2,845 households, and 2,039 families residing in the city. The population density was 3,093.2 people per square mile (1,192.2/km2). There were 2,945 housing units at an average density of 1,297.2 per square mile (500.2/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 97.45% White, 0.90% African American, 0.17% Native American, 0.45% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.30% from other races, and 0.71% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.90% of the population.
There were 2,845 households, out of which 32.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.2% were married couples living together, 8.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.2% were non-families. 25.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 2.93.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 24.2% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 25.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females, there were 93.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.2 males.
