Shelby Summary

Shelby, Iowa is a small town located in Shelby County, Iowa, United States. The population was 545 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Shelby County.

History

Shelby was founded in 1856 by settlers from Ohio and Indiana. The town was named after Isaac Shelby, a Revolutionary War hero and the first governor of Kentucky. The first post office was established in 1857.
