History
The town of Pierson was founded in 1856 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The town was named after the first settler, John Pierson. The town was originally a farming community, but in the late 19th century, it became a center for the lumber industry. The town was incorporated in 1887.
In the early 20th century, Pierson was a thriving community with a variety of businesses, including a bank, a hotel, a general store, a blacksmith shop, a livery stable, and a creamery. The town also had a school, a post office, and a newspaper.

Pierson is located at 42°30'25" North, 96°17'45" West (42.506944, -96.295833). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2), all of it land.

The racial makeup of the town was 97.3% White, 0.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.4% from other races, and 1.5% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.3% of the population.
There were 212 households, out of which 33.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 8.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.0% were non-families. 28.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.17.
In the town, the population was spread out, with 28.2% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.7% who were 65 years of age or older.
