Ogden Summary

Ogden, Iowa is a small city located in Boone County, Iowa, United States. It is situated along the Des Moines River, approximately 30 miles north of Des Moines. The population of Ogden was 2,717 at the 2010 census.

History

Ogden was founded in 1854 by a group of settlers from Ogden, New York. The town was named after the New York town, and the settlers brought with them the same name. The first post office was established in 1855.
In 1856, the first school was built in Ogden. The first church was built in 1858, and the first newspaper was established in 1859.
The first railroad line was built in 1868, connecting Ogden to Des Moines. This allowed for the growth of the town, and by 1880, the population had grown to 1,000.

In 1883 the first bank was established in Ogden The first telephone line was installed in 1884

In the early 1900s, Ogden was a thriving agricultural community. The town was home to several grain elevators, a creamery, a flour mill, and a canning factory.

Ogden is a small, rural community with a strong agricultural base. The town is home to several grain elevators, a creamery, a flour mill, and a canning factory.
