Fonda Summary

Fonda, Iowa is a small city located in Pocahontas County, Iowa. It is situated on the Des Moines River and is part of the Fort Dodge, Iowa Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population of Fonda was 1,072 at the 2010 census.

History

Fonda was founded in 1881 by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad. The town was named after Fonda, New York, the hometown of the railroad's president. The first post office was established in 1882.
