Avoca Summary

Avoca, Iowa is a small city located in Pottawattamie County, Iowa. It is situated along the Missouri River, approximately 30 miles south of Omaha, Nebraska. The city has a population of approximately 3,000 people and is part of the Council Bluffs Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Avoca was founded in 1854 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The city was named after the Avoca River in Ireland. The city was incorporated in 1868 and was the first city in Pottawattamie County to be incorporated.
