Alden Summary

Alden, Iowa is a small city located in Hardin County, Iowa. It is situated in the center of the state, approximately 30 miles northeast of Des Moines. The city has a population of 1,072 people, according to the 2010 census.

History

Alden was founded in 1856 by a group of settlers from New York. The city was named after Alden, New York, the hometown of the settlers. The city was incorporated in 1875.
In the late 19th century, Alden was a thriving agricultural community. The city was home to several grain elevators, a creamery, and a flour mill. The city also had a railroad station, which connected it to the rest of the state.
