Trenton Summary

Trenton is a city located in Dade County, Georgia, United States. It is the county seat of Dade County and is located in the northwest corner of the state. The population was 1,837 at the 2010 census.

History

Trenton was founded in 1836 and named after the city of Trenton, New Jersey. It was the first county seat of Dade County, which was created in 1837. The city was incorporated in 1845.
Trenton was a major stop on the Western and Atlantic Railroad, which connected Atlanta to Chattanooga, Tennessee. The railroad was built in the 1830s and was a major factor in the city's growth.

Trenton is located at 34°56'25" North, 85°20'17" West (34.940278, -85.338333). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.2 square miles (10.8 km2), all land.

Trenton's economy is largely based on agriculture. The city is home to several large farms, including the Dade County Farm Bureau, which is the largest farm in the county. The city also has a number of small businesses, including restaurants, retail stores, and service providers.
