Maysville Summary

Maysville is a small town located in Banks County, Georgia, United States. It is situated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, about an hour northeast of Atlanta. The town was founded in 1820 and named after the Revolutionary War hero, General Elijah Mays. The population of Maysville was 1,845 at the 2010 census.

Geography

Maysville is located at 34°25'25" North, 83°41'17" West (34.423, -83.688). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all of it land.

History

Maysville was founded in 1820 and named after the Revolutionary War hero, General Elijah Mays. The town was originally a trading post and was the site of a Civil War battle in 1864. The town was incorporated in 1891.
