Danielsville Summary

Danielsville is a small town located in Madison County, Georgia, United States. It is the county seat of Madison County and is located about 70 miles northeast of Atlanta. The population of Danielsville was 1,093 at the 2010 census.

History

Danielsville was founded in 1810 by William Daniel, a Revolutionary War veteran. The town was named after him and was incorporated in 1812. The town was originally located on the banks of the Broad River, but was moved to its current location in 1820.
The town was an important trading center in the early 19th century, and was the site of a major battle during the Civil War. The Battle of Danielsville was fought on May 24, 1864, and resulted in a Confederate victory.

Geography

Danielsville is located at 34°25'25" North, 83°17'45" West (34.423, -83.296). The town is situated in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, and is surrounded by rolling hills and forests. The Broad River flows through the town, and the town is located about 70 miles northeast of Atlanta.

The economy of Danielsville is largely based on agriculture and manufacturing. The town is home to several small businesses, including a feed mill, a sawmill, and a furniture factory. The town also has a few retail stores, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a few restaurants.
