Bremen Summary

Bremen is a city located in Haralson County, Georgia, United States. It is the county seat of Haralson County and is located in the northwest corner of the state. The population was 4,945 at the 2010 census.

Geography

Bremen is located at 33°45′N 85°7′W (33.75, -85.12). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.2 square miles (10.8 km2), of which 4.2 square miles (10.8 km2) is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km2) (0.48%) is water.

History

Bremen was founded in 1854 and named after the German city of Bremen. The city was incorporated in 1871. The city was the site of a major Civil War battle in 1864.

Economy

Bremen is home to several industries, including a large poultry processing plant, a paper mill, and a manufacturing plant. The city also has a number of retail stores and restaurants.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 4,845 people, 1,845 households, and 1,269 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,154.2 people per square mile (446.7/km2).
