Bogart Summary

Bogart, Georgia is a small city located in the northeastern part of the state, in Oconee County. It is situated along the banks of the Oconee River, and is part of the Athens-Clarke County Metropolitan Statistical Area. History

The area that is now Bogart was first settled in the early 1800s by a group of settlers from North Carolina. The town was originally known as “Bogart’s Station”, named after the first settler, William Bogart. The town was officially incorporated in 1891, and the name was changed to Bogart.

Geography

Bogart is located in the northeastern part of Georgia, in Oconee County. It is situated along the banks of the Oconee River, and is part of the Athens-Clarke County Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city has a total area of 1.3 square miles, all of which is land. The terrain is mostly flat, with some rolling hills in the area.

Economy

Bogart’s economy is largely based on small businesses, such as retail stores, restaurants, and other services. The city is also home to a number of manufacturing and industrial businesses, including a paper mill and a plastics factory.
