Levan Summary

Levan is a small town located in Juab County, Utah. It is situated in the western part of the state, about 40 miles south of Salt Lake City. The town has a population of approximately 1,000 people and is part of the Nephi Micropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Levan was first settled in 1859 by a group of Mormon pioneers led by William Levan. The town was named after William Levan, who was a prominent leader in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The town was originally known as Levanville, but the name was changed to Levan in 1877.
The town was an important stop on the Pony Express route and was also a stagecoach stop. In the late 1800s, the town was a major center for the production of wool and other agricultural products.

Geography

Levan is located in the western part of Utah, about 40 miles south of Salt Lake City. The town is situated in a valley surrounded by mountains. The nearest major city is Nephi, which is about 20 miles to the east.
The town has a total area of 1.2 square miles, all of which is land. The elevation of the town is 4,890 feet above sea level.

Economy

The economy of Levan is largely based on agriculture. The town is home to several farms and ranches, which produce a variety of crops and livestock. The town is also home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a restaurant.
