Clarkston Summary

Clarkston is a small town located in Cache County, Utah, United States. It is situated in the northern part of the state, near the Idaho border. The population of Clarkston was 1,072 at the 2010 census.

History

The area that is now Clarkston was first settled in 1864 by a group of Mormon pioneers led by William Clark. The town was originally named Clarkston after William Clark, but was later changed to Clarkston in 1868. The town was incorporated in 1877.
In the early years, Clarkston was a farming community, with the main crops being wheat, oats, and hay. The town also had a sawmill, a gristmill, and a blacksmith shop.

Geography

Clarkston is located at 41°45'25" North, 111°51'45" West (41.7569, -111.8625). It is situated in the northern part of Cache County, near the Idaho border. The town is located in the Cache Valley, which is a large valley surrounded by mountains. The nearest major city is Logan, which is about 20 miles to the south.
The elevation of Clarkston is 4,717 feet above sea level. The town has a total area of 0.7 square miles, all of which is land.
