Ridgeway Summary

Ridgeway is a small town located in the state of Iowa, in the United States. It is situated in the southwestern corner of the state, in Appanoose County. The town has a population of just over 500 people, and is located about 30 miles south of the state capital, Des Moines.

History

Ridgeway was founded in 1854 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The town was named after the nearby ridge, which was a prominent feature of the landscape. The town was originally a farming community, and the settlers quickly established a post office and a school.
In the late 19th century, the town began to grow and develop. The railroad arrived in 1881, and the town was incorporated in 1883. The railroad brought new businesses and industries to the town, and the population began to grow.
