New Albin Summary

History
New Albin was founded in 1854 by a group of settlers from Albin, Wisconsin. The settlers named the town after their former home. The town was incorporated in 1858.
In the late 19th century, New Albin was a thriving river port. The town was home to several sawmills, a grist mill, a woolen mill, and a brickyard. The town also had a hotel, a bank, and several stores.
In the early 20th century, the town's economy shifted from river-based industries to agriculture. The town's population began to decline as people moved away to find work in larger cities.
