Marble Rock is a small town located in Floyd County, Iowa, United States. The population was estimated to be around 200 people in 2020. The town is situated on the banks of the Shell Rock River, and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland.

History

Marble Rock was founded in 1856 by a group of settlers from New York. The town was named after the nearby Marble Rock, a large limestone outcropping that was quarried for building stone. The town was incorporated in 1876 and was home to a variety of businesses, including a flour mill, a sawmill, a blacksmith shop, a general store, and a hotel.
In the late 19th century, Marble Rock was a thriving community with a population of over 500 people. The town was home to a variety of churches, schools, and businesses. The town also had a newspaper, the Marble Rock Gazette, which was published from 1876 to 1891.

Geography

Marble Rock is located in Floyd County, Iowa, in the northeast corner of the state. The town is situated on the banks of the Shell Rock River, and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The town is located approximately 25 miles north of Mason City, Iowa, and is about a two-hour drive from Des Moines, Iowa.
