Lynnville Summary

Lynnville is a small town located in Marion County, Iowa, United States. It is situated along the Cedar River, approximately 10 miles south of the county seat of Knoxville. The population was 545 at the 2010 census.

History

The town of Lynnville was founded in 1854 by a group of settlers from Lynn, Massachusetts. The town was named after the settlers’ hometown. The first post office was established in 1855.
The town grew slowly but steadily over the years, and by the turn of the 20th century, it had become a thriving agricultural community. The town was home to several businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, a hotel, and a bank.

Lynnville is located at 41°14'17" North, 93°2'17" West (41.238, -93.038). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2), all of it land.
