History
Lone Tree was founded in 1839 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The town was named after a single tree that stood in the middle of the prairie. The tree was used as a landmark for travelers and settlers.
The first post office was established in 1845 The town was incorporated in 1876
In the late 19th century, Lone Tree was a thriving agricultural community. The town was home to several businesses, including a bank, a hotel, a blacksmith shop, a livery stable, and a general store.

The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 3.05.

The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males.
